The international district
Most institutional visits center on the area around the Peace Palace and the World Forum, where the ICC and several UN-affiliated organizations are based. This district is distinct from the government quarter around the Binnenhof, a short drive away — worth noting when planning a schedule with stops at both.
Getting to The Hague
Rotterdam The Hague Airport is closest, about 15 km (9 miles) away — roughly 20 minutes by car. Amsterdam Schiphol is a further option, about 55 km (34 miles), around 50 minutes. Discretion and punctuality matter more than usual here, given the nature of institutional and diplomatic travel.
What official and legal visits require
Delegations and legal professionals attending proceedings typically need security-aware routing, drivers familiar with institutional pickup procedures, and proper invoicing for the organizations or firms covering the trip — all standard with a dedicated corporate transfer service, rather than an ad hoc taxi booking.
Beyond the institutions
The Hague also has a pleasant city center and the Scheveningen coast nearby, worth a stop if a trip allows time beyond meetings.
